Cyber Monday Campaign A Media Relations Hit

Did you go on-line and shop the Monday after Thanksgiving, now known as Cyber Monday, looking for holiday gifts? Listening to the news media, you’d think that everyone at work and at home was doing all or most of their shopping on-line that Monday. The numbers are now in. It turns out that many people did go on-line and shop that day, but no more than normally shop on-line for the holidays.

Created two years ago by Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation, the “Cyber Monday” public relations promotion seems to have captured an enormous amount of media coverage. There is no news here…nothing out of the ordinary really happened, but what a great media relations success.
