Jane Woods, Government Relations Consultant
Jane Woods’ government relations expertise is founded on her impressive career of public service. Ms. Woods was Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources during the tenure of Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner for a four-year term that finished in January, 2006. Previously, Woods served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia State Senate, where she chaired the Senate Committee on Education and Health. Woods’s work in the Senate also included serving as Vice Chair of the Joint Commission on Health Care as well as numerous other commissions and joint committees.
Before serving in the legislature, Woods taught in the public schools for almost 20 years. Her community work has included political campaigns and board member service with such organizations as the Virginia Health Quality Center, Prevent Child Abuse Virginia, and the AMERIGROUP National Advisory Board, as well as executive committee membership for the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Ms. Woods graduated from American University with a BA in education and has done graduate work in education administration and in business administration. In 2006, Ms. Woods joined the College of Health and Human Services, Department for Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University.
